Isn’t the weather great for getting outside and playing a little pickleball? I know I am enjoying playing.
Here’s an update on what’s going on with PPA:
Our next Flash Mob Tournament for members is scheduled for 4/13/19, 1 – 3 pm at the Pioneer Park courts. The February 23 Flash Mob Tournament was postponed to 3/16/19, due to the heavy snow in February. The March 16th tournament was designed for 3.0 and 3.5 players. This time, the April 13th (Saturday) Flash Mob Tournament will be for 4.0 and 4.5 players. So come prepared to defend your out-of-town tournament titles against other talented PPA members! No charge for PPA members!
Next, as mentioned in Roger Wolfe’s recent communication, the PPA Board of Directors (BOD) is going through a few changes. Due to Roger Wolfe’s resignation, the BOD has appointed me, Jeff Bray, as President. Therefore, that leaves a vacancy in the VP role. The VP role is responsible for the small, fun, member tournaments (e.g., Flash Mob Tournament, see above), provide guidance to the “social committee” (chairwoman is Helen Maland), and provide guidance for the round-robins, lessons, clinics, drills (leadership is provided by Rick Bothell).
Please contact a board members (Jeff Bray, Tracey Thompson, Doug Seefeld, Rick Bothell, Rick Hormann, Terry Booth) if you are interested in filling the VP role until the next election (October 2020).
Be sure to thank Ace (Jedediah) Montalban for volunteering to be our club Webmaster and Facebook Manager. However, since this is a daunting responsibility, he could use an assistant. Please contact Ace or myself of your availability.
Don’t forget, we also need volunteers for our Prescott Granite Mountain Games tournament in September. The planning meetings for the tournament is the second Wednesday of each month from noon to 1pm at Third Shot Coffee (3106 Gateway Blvd., Suite 400). Please respond to volunteer coordinator, Joan Griffith, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Next meeting is April 10, noon.
Please be friendly, welcoming, and accommodating to visitors and newcomers to the courts. Your hospitality makes a huge impact on first impressions for those new to the courts. Give our newcomers and visitors a little help.
Last, but not least, don’t forget about the pickleball fashion show on May 18 at 11am at Third Shot Coffee, 3106 Gateway Blvd., Suite 400. Contact Helen Maland for more information.
Please keep Roger Wolfe’s family in your prayers.
