Mike Christensen: Member At Large
My name is Mike Christensen and I am a candidate for the Member-at-Large board position. I have been a resident of the Prescott area for 3 years and play pickleball regularly at the public courts. I previously coordinated the Round Robins 4.0+ (for about a year) until the PPA took over that duty. Prior to coming to the area I resided in Lake Havasu City and was on the pickleball association board there for several years, during which time I did informal instruction, was on the subcommittee for their annual tournament, and participated in all the preparation that our association did to build the first four courts in town. I have good organizational skills, am task-oriented, and think I would be a useful member of our PPA board.
Ann Steiner: Member At Large
I would like to offer my name as a candidate for a general Board position of the PPA. Over The last 2+ years, the PPA has given me beginner and intermediate lessons, informal and Round Robin tournaments, four new courts with lights, answers to many questions about the sport of Pickleball, an opportunity to participate in PPA (committee member and RR coordinator) and lots of people with whom to play. I am very appreciative of all this volunteer work. I’d like to give back to the organization. I would bring the perspective of the true recreational, but enthusiastic, player and have had experience serving on the Board of other organizations.
Bob Truckenmiller: Member At Large
I have been living in Prescott almost six years after retiring from an aviation career in the New York / New Jersey area. My neighbor Roger Wolfe introduced me to Pickleball soon after settling into our new home – I had never heard of this “new game” before. He took me under his wing and created the Pickleball addict that I am today. The people I have met playing this game have been fun, helpful and welcoming. I have many new friends because of this sport.
It is time that I give back and help where I can. So, I am throwing in my hat to run for a position on the Prescott Pickleball Association board. I won’t let you down.
We have no current candidates for PPA Board Secretary. Please consider filling this position if you are able!
Proposed Amendments to PPA Bylaws:
Remove all references to Arizona Community Foundation fund.
Reason: Fundraising for 'Four More' Project complete and PPA is losing ~$80/month in mandatory fees. Fund could be re-opened at a future date if needed.
Delete current requirement that PPA maintain accounts with ACF and PayPal.
Reason: Allow Board more flexibility to maintain funds in optimal accounts.
PPA Board member terms shall consist of 2 year terms with staggered start dates, instead of current concurrent terms.
Reason: Provide for Board continuity between terms.
Change PPA Board meeting from closed sessions to open to all members unless President or Vice President specifies otherwise.
Reason: Members input is encouraged and valued.
Allow PPA bylaw amendments to be voted on electronically between annual meetings if necessary. Currently, bylaws are voted on only at general membership meetings.
Reason: Compelling reasons may dictate the need for a vote prior to the next annual meeting.
